Behind the Scenes: How Our Teams Delivered Life-Saving Supplies to Varadero

At A Lot of Love For Cuba, there’s always more to the story than a snapshot. Here’s how our recent Varadero delivery unfolded, showing the dedication and teamwork that fuel every step of our mission.

Challenge: In early July, the Varadero team faced a severe shortage of medical supplies - and we had no volunteer travelers headed that way. Urgent cases were growing, and the gap seemed impossible to fill.

The Solution: Our Morón team immediately began coordinating. Allison and her spouse stepped up, agreeing to transport two critical suitcases on their journey to Havana. Upon arrival, our trusted partners at Aliento de Vida (special thanks to Yankiel) received the bags, safeguarding them until transport could be arranged. Enter Reiniel, a dedicated nurse with a heart for service. Scheduled for work in Varadero, he volunteered to carry two more suitcases. Through careful planning, our Varadero team met up with him at train stops to collect supplies - the logistics were complex, but everyone stayed focused. The journey didn’t end there. Reiniel was soon called to Havana, this time helping a patient in need of urgent care. Without hesitation, he coordinated with Aliento de Vida and collected the last suitcases, ensuring delivery directly to Yasnery in Varadero.

Impact: Because of these collective efforts, Varadero is once again stocked with urgently needed medical supplies. The cases in our queue are many - but thanks to this village of helpers, we are able to make an immediate difference.
