About A Lot of Love for Cuba

A Lot of Love for Cuba is a registered Canadian not-for-profit (#764167623) dedicated to delivering essential aid to vulnerable communities across Cuba.

The Johnston family first visited Cuba in the late 1990s and quickly fell in love with its culture and people. Over the years, they returned often, building close friendships in a small cayo near Morón and becoming deeply connected to the community.

In 2016, during a family health crisis, those friendships became even more meaningful. Their Cuban friends offered steady emotional support through messages and video calls, reminding the family of the strength of connection and community.

When the pandemic halted travel in 2020, the Johnston family watched from afar as their friends in Cuba faced severe shortages of food, medical supplies, power, and other essentials. Wanting to help, they began working through the network “Canadians Helping Cubans” and reached out directly to trusted contacts on the island to understand what was needed most.

What began as helping friends soon grew into a wider effort to support vulnerable individuals, families, and communities. In early 2024, that work became A Lot of Love for Cuba (ALL for Cuba), a Canadian not-for-profit dedicated to delivering essential aid and improving quality of life for people across Cuba.

Through essential aid, volunteer efforts, and community partnerships, we strive to reduce hardship, uphold dignity, and encourage greater self-sufficiency. We measure our success not only by what we deliver, but by the positive and lasting impact that support has on the lives of those we serve.

We collect and deliver food, hygiene items, household supplies, and other basic necessities to vulnerable individuals and families.

Medical Support

We provide medical supplies, diabetic supplies, mobility aids, and other urgently needed items to patients, clinics, and healthcare workers.

Community Support

We work with local contacts, volunteers, and partners to respond to expressed needs in families, schools, hospitals, and communities across Cuba.

We work to create practical, lasting support for vulnerable individuals and communities across Cuba by focusing on the following goals:

• Support education and skill development

• Support self-sustaining economic activity
• Partner with local organizations, communities, and individuals to foster community development

We support vulnerable individuals and communities across Cuba, including families, seniors, children, people with ongoing medical needs, clinics, hospitals, schools, and local institutions facing shortages of essential supplies and support.
